Insight Award
Instituted in 2022 and reflective of LABF’s mission, the Insight Award recognizes an individual or organization for an outstanding artistic or journalistic work or body of work that enhances the public’s understanding of the role, operation, history or impact of media in our society. It is presented each year at the annual convention of the National Association of Broadcasters in April. To learn more about the winners below, click on the asterisk following the name.
Inaugural winner LeVar Burton, pictured here with NAB President Curtis LeGeyt (far left) and LABF Co-chairs Heidi Raphael and Jack Goodman, in his 2022 acceptance speech, called on fellow broadcasters to live up to their responsibilities. “In a world that is increasingly beset by an assault on truth, it is our responsibility…to do what we can to tell the stories we tell from a place of integrity.”
